Resident LogBook
- Recording of medical resident daily experiences
- Web-based accessibility for convenience
- Anonymous staff evaluation
- Allows program managers the ability to monitor
Resident Logbook is web-based software designed to meet the requirement that all
medical residents keep track of the cases they perform throughout the course of
their program. Traditionally, this experience was collected in paper format and
was of limited use. Cissec's Resident Logbook was developed to enhance the collection
of this data in more complex and complete ways by taking advantage of current
and emerging technologies.
The use of a website application allows access on a 24/7
basis to accommodate a medical resident’s challenging schedule. They can enter the
secure website at their convenience and from any web accessible computer. Daily
procedures are then simply recorded using an intuitive process and the data is accumulated
on an individual, institutional and national basis for comparison. Program Directors
can also view monthly reports of each resident’s experience and, if necessary, take
the appropriate steps to ensure that it is balanced and complete.
ResidentLogbook.com is also able to provide feedback to medical staff through the Staff Evaluation feature
of the program. Residents can record their observations and opinions anonymously
with the intention of improving and broadening the education experience for all
parties.
The Resident Logbook was originally created by Cissec Corporation for the
Association of Canadian University Departments of Anesthesia, (ACUDA), for use in
the 17 teaching institutions and their affiliated hospitals across the country.
The website has been refined and expanded so that it can be customized to address
any clinical discipline’s specific needs.
