City of Hamilton, Public Health Services

Cissec will be providing consulting and implementation services for the installation of the Syndromic Surveillance system to the City of Hamilton, Public Health Services. This innovative system will automatically collect patient symptom data from 5 area hospital’s emergency room triage computers and then categorize them into one of 8 chief complaints. The chief complaint data can then be displayed on real time graphs and compared to historical information, indicating notable activity which will monitored by epidemiologists.  Future enhancements will also inlcude geographically mapping the data using Geospatial Information Systems to provide health officials with detailed information regarding occurrences in the Hamilton region. The project has been given high priority within the City of Hamilton.
Cissec Corporation successfully enhanced and implemented this system at several hospitals in eastern Ontario as part of a Ministry of Health and Long Term Care / Public Health pilot project in 2005-6.
